The usual treatment for pain is analgesics or anti-inflammatory tablets taken by mouth or by intramuscular injection. Pain medication such as paracetamol and codeine or morphine act on the Central Nervous System and treat your perception of pain in the brain. They do not treat the cause. Anti-inflammatory tablets are of limited benefit in acute conditions, but of even less benefit in chronic or long-standing conditions. Antidepressants and Antiepileptic medication are also used to treat chronic pain.
Neuro Prolotherapy acts directly on the Peripheral Nervous System which is where the cause of pain lies. The treatment not only gets rid of the pain but does so by treating the cause which is nerve inflammation. Steroid injections, when they are beneficial, generally last a few weeks but can only be repeated two or three times as they cause tissue damage.
